"The Tigers - Fostering Family and Youth"

The Club was formed in 1946 and competed in the Mountain District Football Association until 1966 when the MDFA amalgamated with the Yarra Valley Football League to form the Yarrra Valley-Mountain District Football League (YVMDFL). The founding fathers of the Club were, in the main, returned servicemen who lived in Upwey and the adjoining township of Tecoma (thus the name Upwey-Tecoma). They chose the tiger as the Club's emblem and so the Club is more commonly known as the "Upwey Tigers". Our home ground is officially called the "Alistair Gillies Oval" but everyone knows it simply as "The Dome"
For the uninitiated, Upwey is situated some 35 kilometres east of Melbourne, which is the capital city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the other half of the Club's name, Tecoma, is another couple of kilometres further east. We are a couple of the many small townships to be found in the Dandenong Ranges, which is a popular destination for day trippers and picnicers who are entranced by the natural scenic beauty and the many wonderful gardens in the area.
The Club fields Senior, Reserves and Under 18 teams in the YVMDFL First
Division and we also have a team in the Veterans (over 32) competition.
Our sister Club, the Upwey-Tecoma Junior Football Club, fields teams in the
Under 10,Under 11, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 grades of the Dandenong
Ranges Junior Football League.
